NEC Turbo Grafx 16 CD Drive (HES-CDR-01) The NEC Turbo CD unit was released as an add on for the Turbo Grafx 16 system. The CD unit was $399.99 when it released in 1989. The system came with power supply, AV cables, docking station, and a special Hu card that let the TG 16 read games from the CD drive. It was the first consumer CD-based console. Before using your Turbo Grafx CD unit, you must format the TG 16. To do this, turn on the system and press select on your controller. Go to "Format" and press I three times. "End" then I again. To soft reset the system hold down "Run" and press "select". After saving your games to the Backup RAM, you might want to delete them to open up space. Turn on the system and press "Select". Go to "Delete" and select the files you want and press the I button. If you want to delete everything, repeat the formatting process described above when you first use your TG CD unit.
